AVL
Automatic Vehicle Location. A system that determines a vehicle's position with GPS and sends it to a control center.
GPS server
The server that receives tracker messages, decodes them according to their protocol and stores them. →
CAN bus
The vehicle's internal network. With compatible devices it lets you read data such as mileage, RPM or fuel (for example via J1939). →
DMS
Driver Monitoring System. A camera that detects driver fatigue, distraction or phone use. →
ELD
Electronic Logging Device. An electronic record of driver hours of service, mandatory in some countries.
Geofence
A virtual area (circle or polygon) that triggers alerts when a device enters or leaves it. →
GT06
A compact binary protocol popularized by Concox (Jimi IoT) and used by many compatible trackers. →
IMEI
Unique identifier of a device's modem. Trackers are registered on the platform by their IMEI.
JT/T 808
Chinese communication standard for vehicle terminals: position, alarms and events.
JT/T 1078
A standard that extends JT/T 808 with live video streaming from the vehicle. →
MDVR
Mobile Digital Video Recorder. A multi-channel in-vehicle video recorder, common in trucks and buses. →
OBD-II
Diagnostic port on light vehicles. OBD trackers plug into it and can read vehicle data.
POI
Point of Interest. A place marked on the map (customers, sites, depots) for reference and reports.
Chinese manufacturer of GPS trackers for vehicles, assets and people, using a text-based protocol. →
Ruptela
Lithuanian manufacturer of professional GPS trackers for fleets. →
Teltonika
Lithuanian GPS tracker manufacturer widely used in commercial fleets. →
Webhook
An HTTP notification the platform sends automatically to another system when an event occurs, such as an alert. →
White label
A model in which a product is sold under the reseller's brand. TrackeraX is a white-label GPS platform.
M2M SIM
A data SIM card designed for connected devices, with low-usage plans.
Perpetual license
A one-time license that lets you use the software without a recurring fee, under its terms. →
Telematics
The combination of telecommunications and computing to send and analyze vehicle data remotely.
Fuel sensor
A sensor that measures tank level. It needs calibration for consumption reports to be reliable. →
